The U.S. Embassy in Tashkent will host a concert on October 7 in observance of the 10th Annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days. The concert, beginning at 16:00 on the U.S. Embassy grounds, will feature the renowned Uzbek group Yalla.

The Daniel Pearl World Music Days is a global network of music events held throughout October that aims to use music to promote tolerance and unite people against a culture of violence. Performances are dedicated to the memory of Daniel Pearl, a Wall Street Journal bureau chief and musician who was killed in Pakistan following the events of September 11, 2001.

Since its inception in 2002, Daniel Pearl World Music Days has inspired more than 7,895 music performances in 113 countries, all dedicated to friendship, harmony and our shared humanity. Participation has included many U.S. Embassies and Consulates. View highlights of last year's Embassy-sponsored events spreading America's goodwill abroad.

An icon of Uzbek culture, Yalla itself is demonstrative of Daniel Pearl’s belief that music has the ability to bring people and cultures together. Over the past 40 years, the group has performed in 10 different languages and has acted as cultural ambassador to international festivals and meetings abroad.

The concert will start at 16:00 on October 7th, but please arrive by 14:00 for security screening.  No bags or electronic devices (cell phones, cameras, etc.) will be allowed on the U.S. Embassy compound. Please note that food and drink will be available for purchase.

Registration to attend the concert is now closed.
