On August 15, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Duane Butcher signed the condolence book at the Embassy of Georgia. He expressed the United States’ condolences for the recent loss of life and confirmed the commitment of the United States to Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Expressing deep sadness at the humanitarian tragedy in Georgia, he stated the hope that the ceasefire will be upheld and that all hostilities cease.
